- SUMMARY
- The primary function of a Sales Associate is to assure that all customer transactions are professionally and efficiently handled.
- The primary function of a Maintenance Associate is to assure the cleanliness and orderliness of the store and to fulfill the company’s commitment to safety and high-quality customer service.
- The primary function of a Cafe Associate is to assure that all food is prepared according to company safety and quality standards and that customer transactions are professionally and efficiently handled.
- AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
- The Store Associate is selected and appointed by the Store General Manager and/or Store Co-Manager(s) and/or Café Manager and is to report to the all of the above.
- The Store Associate supervises no personnel but coordinates closely with personnel throughout the organization.
- EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Education/Experience
- High School Education and 1 year of experience in retail sales; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in retail/convenience store industry preferred.
- Licensing/Registration/Certification
- Current, valid Responsible Vendor Certification required (within 45 days of hire);
- Food Safety Certification a plus.

- Customer Service
- Keep the customer first in all aspects of the job; be courteous and polite at all times
- Greet all customers, assist customers while shopping; be knowledgeable of products and store layout and helpful throughout the store, thank all customers

- Front shelves during shift; keep merchandise clean, stocked and rotated, including in store room and cooler
- Safety & Security

- Wear and/or utilize proper protective equipment or tools, including slip-resistant shoes, safety goggles (when required), gloves, etc.

- Sales/Cashier
- Provide great customer service.
- Understand and follow cash control procedures, including register security, over/shorts, cash, check, credit card, local credit and coupon policies
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards or automatic debits & Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
- Follow all loss-prevention policies at all times including cash handling, scanning merchandise, using PLU’s, etc.
- Inform supervisors when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly
- Maintenance
- Clean and maintain all equipment according to policies & checklists
- Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping etc.
- Perform minor fixes
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, collecting trash etc.
- Maintain awareness of environment and surroundings and promptly report or correct any exceptions
- Inform supervisors when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly.
- Food Service
- Follow all health and safety standards, including personal cleanliness and hygiene, food temperature, food storage, food preparation, food serving, utensil & equipment maintenance and use, and safety
- Operate all food prep, cooking and storage equipment efficiently and effectively
- Follow all recipes and quick reference guides, including portioning standards, weigh or measure ingredients.
- Prepare a variety of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
- Package take-out foods and/or serve food to customers, portion and wrap the food, or place it directly on plates for service to customers.
