Under general supervision of the Boutique Manager. Boutique assistant ensures that each customer receives outstanding service. Supports patients and their families who come to The Boutique to select/purchase merchandise. Aids in successful sales by having knowledge of all the products offered in the Boutique. Maintains an awareness of all promotions and advertisements. Participates in inventory counts. Assists in scheduling appointments for certified fitter(s). Assists in ringing up sales at registers and/or bagging merchandise. Professional phone etiquette required. Any other tasks as assigned from manager.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Assist customers in selection of merchandise including hats, scarves, clothing gifts, skin care and dietary items. 1a. Educates the customer regarding their purchase as trained by the vendor of the product. 1b. Educates patient regarding the use and return policy (if any) on products sold. 1c. Promotes supportive services including mastectomy, hairdressing, beauty, and resource center.
  • 2. Operates cash register, labels and prices merchandise. Promotes special sale items. 2a. Promotes special sale items. 2b. Tracks daily deposit per department standard. 2c. Tracks donations per department standard.
  • 3. Assists with data entry and computerized management and tracking. 3a. Supports input of inventory of retail and DME equipment as assigned by supervisor. 3b. Helps cross train team members and volunteers on the POS system as appropriate.
  • 4. Maintains a pleasant, comfortable and safe environment for patients. 4a. Supports ordering of retail items. 4b. Required to follow all ordering and payment process department procedures. 4c. Offers feedback on regularly requested mastectomy & hairdressing inventory ie: swimsuits, camisoles, and beauty products.
  • 5. Provides assistance with clerical duties to support the operations of The Boutique. 5a. Required to cross cover Boutique specialist during high volume times or cross coverage of PTO for scheduling, check in/out and chart prep. 5b. Requires basic knowledge of insurance interpretation for DME.
  • 6. Compliments the support staff in boutique to accurately schedule up to 25% of the boutique visits, as per the department scheduling standards and SOPs.
  • 7. Required to answer phone calls and check phone messages. 7a. Documents phone calls/messages in Epic as per department SOP and guidelines.
  • 8. Continuously exhibits positive behaviors with all members of the Smilow Cancer Boutique team through demonstration of the following: 8a. Presents self in a professional manner both physically and verbally while exhibiting a postive attitude. 8b. Provides open and constructive feedback to peers and managers in the interest of improving work relationships in a constructive and timely manner. 8c. Demonstrates willingness to take on additional work in the interest of improving the patient care and working environment. 8d. Asks for clarification as needed. 8e. Demonstrates appropriate and friendly manner. 8f. Interacts with patients, families, and staff in a respectful manner. 8g. Listens patiently and carefully and modifies behaviors, as needed. 8h. Values constructive feedback and modifies behaviors as needed.
  • 9. Supports wrap up with clinical colleagues. 9a. Prepares packages for FedEx and schedules "FedEx pick up" within Epic. 9b. Prepares bags/supplies for mastectomy/hairdressing services. 9c. Reschedule appointments as directed by clinical staff.
  • 10. Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or manager..

Qualifications

EDUCATION


HS diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE


Retail experience preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


Physical ability to stand for extended periods, and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store. Professional phone etiquette required.
