Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Legal Counsel professional to join our Yamaha Legal team in Kennesaw GA. Legal Counsel will coordinate business and legal needs of our corporation to reduce legal exposure while maximizing business activities of Yamaha. Independently manage issues, claims and litigation to minimize legal exposure to Yamaha.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Draft and review multiple types of contracts including sponsorship agreements, licensing agreements, vendor agreements, lease agreements, and software agreements.
- Responsible for handling legal issues within general commercial legal framework and provide legal advice, as needed, to other Yamaha subsidiary companies.
- Provide legal advice on dealer franchise law issues.
- Review programs, advertising, bulletins and other written materials and policies prior to introduction for possible legal exposure. Provide legal support as appropriate to minimize risk that will meet product group goals and comply with legal requirements.
- Manage nationwide litigation, including fact development, both internal and external to Yamaha; selection of witnesses, internal corporate and expert witnesses; preparation of witnesses for deposition and trial testimony; and develop settlement and trial strategy. Types of litigation will include class action, employment, administrative matters, and limited commercial litigation support.
- Provide written reports of litigation activities on all cases managed by legal counsel. Share information on such reports with management.
- Ability to work unsupervised on the handling of a variety of commercial matters.
Qualifications:
- Law Degree and Bar membership in at least one jurisdiction.
- 3-5 years of relevant legal experience in a legal department or law firm.
