Manager, Advanced Manufacturing (Seating)

Summary

Drives activities of the  AME team to achieve launch performance objectives core to the AME function. Works with BU Leaders, Operations Management, and other functional leaders to plan, mentor, assess, and lead continuous improvement of internal and external requirements for launch. Investigates, reviews, and implements new assembly methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. Ensures that all areas of advanced manufacturing engineering  are working collectively towards the goals defined for a successful launch.

Main Responsibilities

1. Provides support resources on new product launch programs, providing the manufacturing input for development of new process and improvements to existing processes and equipment
2. Directly supervises the duties of the AME as specified in the Product Realization Process (PRP).
3. Responsible for AME related continuous improvement (e.g., cycle times, scrap, quality, material cost reduction, etc.) through the launch cycle.
4. Develops plans for process improvement and will have specific areas of accountability in its execution
5. Oversees the successful  hands-off of processes, equipment, and documentation from launch team to SOP
6. Participates in the creation of competency goals
7. Manages a portion of the AME budget as it relates to their teams (Headcount, Travel Costs, Training, Tools, etc)
8. Conducts regular reviews of performance and development goal achievements

Work Experience

- 5 to 9 years or more experience Automotive Manufacturing required

- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Trained

- Assembly processing skills: Line balance, Automation, Design Feasibility, PLC programming, etc

- Thorough understanding of equipment design concepts

- Mechanical Aptitude for problem solving

- Experience with various manufacturing technologies (injection molding, sonic / hot plate/ IR welding, mechanical fastening, packaging, foam, FIP and Slush)

- Experience with supplier and customer communication (BMW experience highly preferred)

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (or Related Degree)
