What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipefitter- Industrial position at Yates Construction?
Location: Multiple Locations
Pay Rate: Up to $32 Hour
Per Diem: $125/days worked. Based on eligibility.
Hours: 50-60 Hours/Week
We are looking for experienced Journeyman Pipefitters. Must be able to rig pipe into position, read blueprints, lay out, prep for weld, and fit attachments(valves, flanges, tees, 90’s, 45’s and offsets per drawing, ISO, P&ID.
Pipefitter Job Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
- Identify all tools required for tasks.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
- Install valves, hangers, supports, flanges inside piping system according to plans and applicable specifications.
- Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
- Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications.
- Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions.
- Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
- Cuts pipe using reciprocating saw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine, and/or other small hand tools.
- Threads pipe using threading machine.
- Mounts pipe hangers and brackets.
- Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings.
- Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools.
- Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as required.
Pipefitter Qualifications / Skills:
- Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety
- Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Ability to calculate take-outs
Experience and Requirements:
- 4 years experience Pipefitting on heavy industrial projects is preferred
- NCCER Pipefitting Certification is a plus
- Steel toed boots
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
