What are the responsibilities and job description for the PURCHASING AGENT position at Yates Industries Inc?
Primary Responsibilities:
- Quote requests involving both products and services with the manufacturing industry.
- Create and issue purchase orders based on multi-supplier quote analysis.
- Electronic receiving function in modern ERP system.
- Purchase order status updating in accordance with manufacturing production plan scheduling.
- Monitor and control shop tooling usage -including resharpening processes.
- Monitor, and re-certify production dept. gauge calibration.
- Qualify, validate, and establish new suppliers based on company internal quality system.
- Create, cost and close internal material orders based on production plan requirements.
- Manage, analyze, and control inventory costs and on hand stocking levels.
- Conduct inventory audits utilizing both cycle counting and yearly physical inventory functions.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience with the purchase of both manufacturing production items and non-production related items.
- Ability to select and retain vendors with competitive price, reliable deliveries and quality products and services.
- Responsible to establish and maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Basic blueprint reading skills, materials knowledge, general machining concepts & manufacturing principals.
- Exceptional computer, communication, and negotiation skills.
