MISSION

GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, the Program Coordinator I will be responsible for the staff and children in Child Watch, ensuring a healthy, safe and loving environment.The Coordinator I will demonstrate Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility while providing for children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental well-being and will interact positively with parents to develop a trusting relationship.
KNOW HOW
1. Designated as First Responder in emergencies or accidents/incidents.
2. Provide a quality environment in Child Watch, taking into consideration the needs of each child and the goals and objectives of the YMCA.
3. Set the schedule for Child Watch program and employees.
4. Assist with hiring, training and evaluation of staff.
5. Be responsible for the safety of the children at all times and to carry out emergency procedures when necessary.
6. Attend and contribute to all staff meetings and in-service training.
7. Adhere to and maintain the cleaning schedule as set forth by the Program Director.
8. Put safety first in all activities by using developmentally appropriate activities at all times.
9. Adhere to the YMCA dress code and assist in monitoring staff for appropriate dress.
10. Oversee staff and organizing children into age appropriate groups.
11. Regulate shift and schedule changes and make revisions as needed.
12. Delegate tasks as needed.
13. Professionally handle any conflict or emergency situation that may arise with staff or members.
14. Maintain inventory of supplies, snacks and tags.
15. Role model positive interaction with children, parents and staff using the core values as guidelines.
16. Monitor Child Watch area usage via the sign-in/out sheets.
17. Coordinate substitutes as necessary.
18. Anything deemed necessary by the Youth and Family Life Director in regards to the job position.

KNOW HOW
- Must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma, or its equivalent and have at least one year of experience working directly with children, preferably in an early childhood setting (2-3 years preferred).
- Must have an understanding of the stages of child development, meeting the needs of the children using the Play and Learn area.
- Must have experience in supervising staff and handling conflict situations with members and staff.
- Must be capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, members, program participants, and with the general public.
- Must be able to work as a team member and possess the core values that meet the YMCA mission.
- Maintain current certifications in CPR
