Archery Program Director
Full Time, Seasonal Position; YMCA of Greater Nashua: Camp Sargent
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Camp Director, Archery Program Director is responsible for planning and leading age appropriate activities for the full summer of Camp Sargent. During the session(s) of your particular “specialty camp” you are responsible for developing, planning and executing age appropriate curriculum/lesson plans for the entirety of the session(s). This position works directly with children ages 5 - 16 years old. This position is directly responsible for the safety and supervision of the children in your program area at ALL times.
WORK SEASON/HOURS:
This is a summer seasonal position (June 1 –August 30, 2024). Hours are between 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM. As a Program Director you may be needed during Pre/Post Camp hours, but you are to not exceed 40 hours per week. All days off must be approved, in writing, by the Camp Director at least one week prior to the start of camp. No time off will be approved after the start of camp, unless it is a medical emergency. Rate: starting at $17.00/hour
*At times, as a Program Area Director you may be asked to work a non-camp Sargent event. Must be willing/flexible. Those events include, but are not limited to: Family Nights, Birthday Parties, and Carnival.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Attend all pre-season staff training sessions.
· Attend all Staff meetings
· A commitment to working daily with youth in a day camping outdoor environment
· Plan and actively lead activities within the program area by age appropriateness
· Provide daily supervision to the program participants at all times.
· On a daily basis keep you program area clean and organized.
· Maintain and correctly store all equipment for the program area with a detailed inventory.
· Assist the Camp Director in the inventory and ordering of supplies for the program.
· Research community businesses that would like to generously donate goods and services to your program.
· Provide the Camp Director with a written lesson plan for each specialty camp session(s), including several plans for rainy days.
· Maintain a positive relationship with campers, parents, and staff.
· Promote the values of the YMCA by being a positive role model for all campers.
· Care for and maintain all camp property and equipment used.
· Promote good personal relationships among campers.
· Must follow all safety guidelines that are in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
· Cannot travel outside of New England for the duration of the summer.
· Must provide us with a physical form stating you are in good health prior to the start of camp. It must be dated no later than June 2019.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age and/or successfully completed the 12th grade (or equivalent)
- Must have prior experience in child care, day camp, or recreational leadership with children.
- Experience in teaching activities in the program area they have been hired for
- A commitment to working daily with youth in a day camping OUTDOOR environment.
- Must be at least level one archery certified (for the duration of the summer camp season) OR able to attain such certification PRIOR to the first day of camp from a nationally recognized certifying body.
- The candidate must have the ability to work with people of all ages in both formal and informal settings, must possess a solution oriented perspective and be flexible and creative, working in an early educational setting with a positive, nurturing attitude and represent the YMCA in all aspects of the Early Education child care program in a professional and friendly manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to act and move around the Camp Sargent property fast enough to keep children safe.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
