We are currently hiring for a full-time 2 year old Lead Teacher to provide a safe, fun and educational environment for our early learning center participants. Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.
- Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Organizes and leads activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Establishes and enforces rules to promote positive behavior.
- Attends to children's basic needs including supervising meal times, playground times and free play.
- Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent OR a college degree in a related field
- Have completed DCF MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Parts 1 2)
- 6 months to one year pre-school teaching experience required
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs
- Ability to interact with infants, toddlers, and young children for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors
- Knowledge of outdoor activities and school based programming preferred
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
$16.00-$21.00/hr commensurate with experience.
