The Director of Aquatics is responsible for the leadership and delivery of the aquatic programs including swim lessons, private lessons, swim team, lifeguard certification classes, and aquatic training events. The Director of Aquatics will supervise the Manager of the Mack Park pool operation in the summer. Demonstrates a commitment to Y Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director to join our team. As the Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our Aquatics department. This is a leadership role that requires excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategic plans to achieve organizational goals.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff members
  • Ensures efficient and effective use of resources
  • Oversees budgeting and financial management activities
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision
  • Ensures efficient and effective use of resources
  • Conducts reviews of all staff accordingly.
  • Acts as liaison between management and aquatic staff for communication purpose.
  • Monitors Instructor schedules to ensure coverage during hours of pool operation.
  • Schedules and supervises lifeguards for all pool sites.
  • Provides leadership, coordination, supervision, and training to team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education:

  • Minimum of 3 months interacting/caring for children.
  • Ability to be Lifeguard Certified and provide training to team members.
  • Ability to teach and demonstrate a variety of skills and activities appropriate to programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, parents, volunteers, and team members.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to bend and stoop occasionally.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work out of doors
