What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Supervisor (Manager on Duty) position at YMCA of Memphis and the Mid South?
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The part - time Building Supervisor is a vital part of the leadership team delivering the highest quality service to all members and guests through relationship building, professionalism, and an extensive knowledge of the YMCA products and services. This position will primarily supervise a team of Fitness Floor Associates, Trainers, and Instructors as well as assist with the organization, implementation, promotion, and execution of the branch’s fitness initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supports the Center leadership and Welcome Center team in essential routine functions and operations at the Welcome Center.
Trains and supervises the Fitness Floor team.
Assist in hiring and onboarding Personal Trainers
Matches Personal Trainers with clients.
Manages equipment repair and reporting of equipment status.
Regularly updates social media in line with Y branding and mission objectives.
Attends wellness related meetings as needed.
Assists with managing group exercise classes.
Recruits new members through community events and programs.
Helps with donor tracking and communication.
Contacts members and potential members via phone, email and in center conversations in order to build relationships and grow membership sales.
Ensures proper implementation of policies and procedures through communication with the team.
Inventories office and supply closets, communicates with leadership when something needs to be ordered or replaced.
Manages incoming and outgoing mail.
All other duties as assigned.

Two years or more years related business management, sales, or customer service
Experience managing a team, preferred.
Understanding of basic accounting concepts and applications including cash
reconciliation, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
Experience with standard business software and office machines.
Experience with leading GroupEx classes or personal training is a plus.
WORK SCHEDULE:The part-time work schedule may vary per the Y’s hours of operation. Most Y’s are open 7 days a week:Mon. – Fri. 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.Sun. 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. This position will include regularly scheduled shifts in the center including some evenings and weekendsWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
