What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Program Director position at YMCA of Memphis and the Mid South?
PURPOSE OF POSITION:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Teen Program Director is responsible for: the health, safety, and welfare of each teen enrolled in center teen programs, demonstrating leadership, showing active participation in the programs, activities and field trips, and serving as a positive and wholesome role model to all participants and other team members in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South and local schools. The Teen Program Director will be responsible for building and measuring student's success in metrics that involve increasing student's GPA's, lowering tardiness, absences, and office referrals and scale the teen program across the association.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Serves as a role model to members and Y team and, at all times, demonstrating the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.Provides direct supervision to students enrolled in teen programs. Ensures program goals and objectives are consistent with the YMCA goals and that the local school district standards and objectives are maintained.Ensures safety to all participants, including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.Ensures that all supervised YMCA programs have appropriate measurable key indicators of success.Assists in the planning and executing of program and curriculum. Ensures that all assigned programs meet the highest quality of standards.Maintains a clean and safe work site.Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and appraising the work of any staff assigned to the programs.Monitors city and state activities pertaining to school aged childcare. Staying abreast to current trends in related field.Takes part in and soliciting others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts such as the Annual Support Campaign.Ensures proper record keeping of all payroll records for yourself as well as any staff working in this, and other programs as assigned and submit payroll to the Center Director in a timely manner.Prepares incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established timelines. Communicate to the supervisor in writing, accident and discipline situations which require corrective actions. Seek guidance from the supervisor in unusual circumstances.Follows all CAP grid guidelines and reporting procedures.Develops and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery.Performs all other duties as assigned by the Center Director.YMCA LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:YMCA Competencies (Leader):Mission Advancement: Models and teaches the Y's values. Proven ability to coach and mentor teens.Strong communication and project management skills, plus an ability to manage multiple demands with ease. Ability to effectively multi-task, work independently and problem solve.Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification and obtain any other certifications required for job.Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.Budgeting and department fiscal management is a plus. A high working knowledge of computers: MS Word, MS Excel and database management.A four year college degree is preferred.WORK SCHEDULE:The full time work schedule for this position is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm, though evenings, and weekends work may be required. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, bend, twist, and walk frequently.Ability to operate in noisy environments.Occasional exposure to outside elements, which may include cold and hot temperatures.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently.The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South aims to provide quality and safe youth programs for all.
