Description
The YMCA of Orange County is looking to hire a seasonal KidZone Staff. The Kid Zone Staff is responsible for the YMCA Kids Zone program including implementation of health & safety standards, program quality, supervision of children, meeting programmatic standards, and customer service.
The hours will be from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.
Job Responsibilities :
- Ensure health & safety standards are met daily ( opening / closing checks, excluding ill children, sanitizing toys, removing possible dangers).
- Report incidents promptly, including mandatory child abuse reporting.
- Be prepared for emergencies and carryout assigned responsibilities during incidents.
- Provide supervision that is visual, proactive and interactive. Monitor headcounts and ratios.
- Implement age appropriate child guidance practices.
- Follow posted activity calendars and schedules. Be prepared to lead activities daily.
- Provide excellent customer service to members and follow up on concerns.
- Engage members in other Y activities and Kid Zone Programs.
- Facilitate member involvement through volunteer participation and development.
- Build professional relationships with members and staff. Model Y values to others.
- Participate in branch and department events and meetings as assigned.
- Carry out all duties in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and / or geographic location.
Education & Certifications : CPR / First Aid Certificates required.
Experience & Background : Must be at least 16 years of age with a valid work permit. 2 years previous work experience with children ages 6 weeks to 11 years preferred.
Skills / Abilities :
- Excellent verbal communication skills;
- Strong customer and results orientation;
Ability to interact effectively at all ages, levels and across diverse cultures; and
Ability to be an effective member of project teams.
