Do you have a passion for all types of sports? Do you enjoy teaching others about the different elements of the game including skills to succeed? If you are looking for a part-time job with a purpose and want to make an impact in your community, this could be the opportunity for you!
Sports Program Staff help to create a fun and positive environment, implementing lesson plans for preschool and elementary age children for members and visitors to the Y. During a typical afternoon or evening, you will lead classes in a variety of seasonal sports using Y provided curriculum, provide appropriate supervision for all participants, and communicate program information to parents. You will also help facilitate youth birthday events. Parties occur on the weekend and require staff to set up, facilitate the program, and clean-up the program area. In the summer months, you will support sports camps and additional summer activities.
To thrive in this position you must be able to demonstrate the foundations of individual sports and provide clear and consistent instruction verbally and by modeling for youth participants. Previous experience working with youth preferred or an interest to work in coaching, sport management, physical education, elementary education and non-profits. You must have highly engaging interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all segments of the community.
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Schedule included 20-25 hours primarily afternoons/evenings and Saturdays
