Job Description
Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, the Teache r Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of a high-quality educational experience, using the Creative Curriculum, for the children and families under his / her care.
The Teacher Assistant will consistently strive to demonstrate cause-driven leadership through the following YMCA Leadership Competencies - Mission Advancement, Collaboration, Operational Effectiveness, and Personal Growth.
The Teacher Assistant also engages in and promotes, the YMCA mission through the core values : Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Respect, and Faith.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Demonstrate a willingness to grow professionally.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish required.
Essential Functions
- Assist the teacher in planning and conducting daily activities for children.
- Have a strong knowledge of all aspects of the daily routine, and anticipate the needs of the Teacher.
- Assist the teacher in guiding the children’s behavior and learning through active interaction and implementation of lesson plans.
- Assist the teacher in maintaining accurate records for licensing and funding agencies.
- Appreciate the diversity of families and how to effectively and appropriately share with them information about their child when directed by Teacher or Preschool Director.
- Know and follow all state and center emergency policies and procedures.
