Job Title: Rec Center and Youth Fitness Monitor

Reports to: Youth & Teen Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides supervision of Gym Courts 1 & 2 , and the DORA (Davis Outdoor Recreation Area). Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the facility policies and ensures all members and guest have a pleasant and safe experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises and patrols Rec Center and Youth Fitness
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Maintains the cleanliness of Rec and YF, reports maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Engage members in homework help, games, and activities
- Shows participants how to properly use machines and how to properly keep track of their progress.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with children
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, Oxygen certifications and Child Abuse Prevention, Blood Borne Pathogens training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
