What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Manager (Fundraising/Grants) position at YMCA?
This is a generalist fundraising position that includes individual giving, grants management and special events support. The Development Manager Fundraising/Grants will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 100-150 donors to retain cultivate and enhance giving and engagement and identify and recruit new donors.
This position will have oversight of 4-5 donor appeals annually. In collaboration with the Development Events/Database Manager and Chief Development Officer, plan and execute our fundraising events including our annual gala and the creation and execution of additional events. Additionally, The Development Manager Fundraising/Grants will serve as staff lead for the submission of grant proposals including discovery meetings, reviewing RFP details and working with program staff to ensure we are accurately capturing and promoting our programs. This position will manage our outside grants consulting team.
Division of time will be:
- 60% donor portfolio management
- 30% growing our foundation and corporate support
- 10% events support
- At least 3 years of experience working with individual donors/major gifts
- College degree preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with fundraising database (Blackbaud Raiser's Edge a plus)
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
- Manage a portfolio of 100-125 donors annually who give $1,000 and below.
- Working with our consultant grant writing team, serve as staff lead for the submission of all grant proposals in a timely manner.
- In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer create and manage appeals
- Create and manage strategic partnerships with corporations. Identify corporate partners that are mutually beneficial for us and the corporation or business.
- Research new funding prospects, funding treads and industry developments.
- Assist as needed with fundraising events.
