The Attleboro Norton YMCA is looking for an innovative leader to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and in keeping with the YMCA mission and vision, the Director of Philanthropy helps coordinate the planning and successful implementation of the annual development program. The Director of Philanthropy will be responsible for assuring the Association's Annual Giving Campaign is efficient, effective, and successful in reaching its goals, through planning, training, motivating and leadership development of volunteers and staff. Working in a team environment with the Board of Directors, Advisory Councils, leadership teams and staff, this position will oversee the association-wide campaign, made up of 2 branch campaigns, totaling over $750,000 in 2022. This position will develop new and grow existing philanthropic relationships to assure future successes and to establish the Y as the "charity of choice" in greater Attleboro-Norton.
Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. Two to four years of financial development or fundraising experience.
Experience & Background: High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful. This leader will need to have excellent writing and public speaking skills, interpersonal relationships, organization, and time management skills. Experience and working knowledge of donor database software is preferred along with a proficiency in Microsoft Office software. This leader will need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.
Key Focus Areas
- Manages, along with the Chief Executive Officer, all aspects of the planning and implementation of the annual giving campaign.
- Manages the case development process for the annual campaign, including strategy, messaging, and timelines.
- Leads development of annual campaign assets (including digital) and audio-visual production in partnership with the Marketing and Communications Department, branch operation leadership and external vendors to achieve deadlines and high-quality collateral.
- Coordinates and supports association donor stewardship and recognition events, including the Boston Marathon, Spin-A-Thon, Best Friends Breakfast, Rooftop Party, Heritage Society reception, Annual Campaign Rally, donor tours, etc.
- Designs and presents training to Y team members and volunteers regarding annual giving best practices.
- Analyzes and tracks donor trends including giving, retention, pledge collections, renewals, etc.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicator strategies and reports.
- Develop and coordinate internal theme to be used throughout the campaign.
- Provide strategy and support to Executive Directors and their respective branch annual giving initiatives, meeting regularly with each to encourage intentional year-round strategy, planning and implementation of donor appreciation, stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation.
- Capitalize on the branches' capabilities and resources to grow their annual campaigns- particularly revolving around staff, board and member giving.
- Supports a Moves Management system for Financial Development leadership team and Association Executive team; ensuring there is tracking and accountability for communication and stewardship to significant donors and donor prospects.
- Manages the direct mail appeal campaigns for the association.
- Provides evaluations and assessments of results for all projects in portfolio, including the Annual Campaign Statistical Analysis.
