This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced child care professional to work in a supportive, caring, fun environment. The Rockport location currently serves 60 children, ages 6 weeks old to 5 years of age, and will soon expand to include a new Infant Care Center. Our Y is a high-quality, licensed, accredited, 5 star QRIS rated child care center. This is a salaried, exempt position with an excellent benefits package, including a 10% retirement contribution after two years of service, paid holidays, PTO, and a free family membership to the Y. Plus, all child care staff currently receive a monthly $200 bonus from the State of Maine, in addition to base pay. The ideal candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule between the hours of 7A to 5P, Monday through Friday. - Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field OR an Associates degree and two years of direct child care experience.
Three years of direct child care experience required, and two years in management or supervisory experience preferred.
Proven experience in early learning management issues and classroom management strategies.
Knowledge of early childhood development and education and licensing requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Mandated Reporter.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.
Strong computer skills, including experience with standard business software (MS Office Suite, Google Suite) required; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, preferred.
- Direct the early learning programs for the Rockport Y branch, ensuring high quality programs and activities and a safe learning environment.
Provide classroom coverage when necessary.
Maintain compliance with all government regulations, NAEYC accreditation requirements, and YMCA safety standards.
Train, develop, schedule, direct and evaluate staff and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Develop and manage budgets related to the position with support from the Senior Director of Child Care.
Manage Rockport program enrollment and ensure that program fees are collected.
Respond to all parent inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Maintain proper records/department files.
Organize special events for parents, and assist with YMCA fundraising activities.
Facilitates monthly Rockport Child Care staff meetings, incorporating relevant training as required by the YMCA, and DHHS and Maine Roads to Quality with support of the Senior Director of Child Care.
Performs other duties as assigned for the good of the organization.
