What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Engagement Attendant (Evenings/Weekends) - Northwest YMCA position at YMCA?
The Member Engagement Attendant supports the work of the YMCA of Southern Arizona, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is responsible for greeting and checking-in members and program participants while providing accurate program information, directions, and clerical support to assist in creating a positive experience for all. Through intentional interactions the Member Engagement Attendant will model excellent customer service in order to contribute to the overall success of the department, branch, and organization as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MEMBER ENGAGEMENT ATTENDANT:
- Provides exceptional customer service by exceeding guest expectations. Consistently greets every person who enters the YMCA (by name, if known) and recognizes all members and guests when they leave.
- Engages in active listening with prospects, members and program participants in order to build relationships, understand an individual's goals and interests and takes the initiative to ensure they have a positive experience.
- Utilizes current operating software systems to maximize the individuals experience through membership sales, program registrations, and other software functions.
- Receives and documents payments to ensure a balanced end-of-shift report.
- Utilizes available resources to provide accurate information about membership, programs, and facilities.
- Follows and enforces all YMCA procedures and policies, including: personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carries out emergency plans as appropriate.
- Actively listens, reflects and responds to customer questions and concerns in a caring manner. When the opportunity presents itself, go above and beyond to resolve the situation immediately.
- Attends and remains current on all mandatory training and staff meetings.

REQUIREMENTS OF A MEMBER ENGAGEMENT ATTENDANT:
- 16 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Previous customer service and sales experience preferred.
- Intermediate or advanced knowledge of technology
- Certifications required within thirty (30) days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid
- Completion of YMCA’s online training within seven (7) days of hire
- Available to work evenings and weekends
