What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Director position at YMCA?
Deadline: Open Until Filled; applications accepted through February 28, 2023
The YMCA of Snohomish County provides more than a job. We offer careers to community-focused professionals who seek to create enduring impact. Our unique work environment is continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of all individuals, across generations, in our communities. We are a charitable organization fully vested in helping our neighbors of all ages to lead better, stronger and healthier lives, whatever their paths or goals may be. We seek professionals who enjoy building relationships with others, to learn of their hopes and desires; and then utilizing that knowledge we help connect our friends to the Y service, program or class that will meet their current need and fill their bucket. In this way our staff are living conduits to life-changing programs and the individuals that help to create desired connections and outcomes.
If this sounds like work that interests you, we invite you to consider a move to our stunningly beautiful island community in Northwest Washington where Stanwood-Camano YMCA enjoys a vital place at the heart of community life. We are situated right on Washington’s picturesque coastline, 60 miles north of Seattle and 90 miles south of Vancouver, BC. Outdoor recreation and options abound, as does all that one expects or desires from small town living. The friendliness and concern extended by our neighbors is matched by the incredible generosity that built our awesome YMCA branch just six short years ago.
Our branch is seeking a Youth Development Director who’s work will focus on serving the teens of our community with several time-tested YMCA signature programs as the core work in helping teens to be successful in their middle school and high school careers, while helping them to develop and grow into caring young adults. As in every community in the country, the trauma perpetuated by the pandemic over the past few years have left most teens in need of programs that help them to reconnect to their community and model strong social connection with peers and caring adult mentors. Through all seasons of the year, the aim of our Teen Programs is to ground participants in activities that foster positive mental health and feeling more connected and seen in the community. In all of our branches throughout Snohomish County, our Teen/Youth Development Directors partner with local secondary schools in our districts to help teens have a seamless connection from the school day to after-school enrichment and co-curricular activities.
During the summer months, our Teen Directors offer Teen Camp programs that allow young people to bridge their school years with growth opportunities that enrich, educate, and challenge participants to experience new and exciting activities and achieve in ways never before experienced.
