What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth & Family Coordinator position at YMCA?
Delivers excellent service to all families, guests, and program participants. Responds to family and guest needs,
promotes enrollment and programs and maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Associates's degree in related field or equivalent
- One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of youth and teen programs.
- Experience in leadership role for a Summer Day Camp preferred.
- Proven experience leading youth staff team such as Camp Counselors.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Required trainings within 60 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention, CPR/AED First Aid; Bloodborne Pathogens, New Employee Orientation
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Manages, directs and coordinates the school age child care programs for assigned location(s),
afterschool, family, outreach and summer camp programs.
- Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program
within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
- Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position.
- Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected. Supports and
budgets for healthy eating (HEPA) through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu
quality.
- Oversee and implement Outreach programs for the branch.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical
environment supports healthy living.
- Develops and maintains relationships with school administration, parent groups and other
organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Responds to all parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Maintains proper records/department files.
- Organizes family events for the members of the La Porte County Family YMCA
- Organizes special events for parents.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
