Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, this position provides operational support and courier service for the Culture & Heritage Museums (CHM) in its various locations including routine cleaning, maintenance, housekeeping, grounds keeping, and custodial tasks. Assists with the safety and security of CHM staff, visitors, and CHM physical assets.
JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
The tasks listed below represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
This position is required to drive a county vehicle in to travel between mutable work locations
Purchases, delivers, and maintains an inventory of janitorial supplies for all CHM locations. Must be able to drive to perform this essential task.
Provides for the secure courier service for internal mail and banking functions between CHM sites, including cash asset banking deposits and weekly back-up tapes for the safety deposit box.
Sets up classes, exhibit openings, and other special events.
Cleans restrooms daily in preparation of visitors and/or supervises others who do the same, including community service workers and other general housekeeping duties as needed.
Maintains all floors including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
Cleans, dusts, and maintains all glass including most displays.
Empties trash receptacles/recycling bins as needed in all locations.
Opens and closes building in the morning and evening.
Works special CHM sponsored events, often occurring outside the normal operating hours as needed.
Communicates with all CHM staff concerning the status of work orders, progress of work, etc. and assists with requests on a daily basis.
Performs other duties as required within the scope of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of high school diploma preferred. Requires three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Valid state driver"s license is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general work requests, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as measurements, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
CLERICAL/MANUAL: Work involves clerical tasks; following standardized procedures, techniques, or procedures; and carrying out practices according to standards set by a supervisor or employers.
Perform clerical or manual tasks. Example: May copy, compile, maintain basic files systems or enter data, or compute data using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; or compare items against a standard; use or operate light equipment such as lawn mowers, floor buffers, pickup truck, van; or perform general maintenance/custodial duties.

Communicate using routine sentences, complete routine job forms and incident reports, or communicate routine information regarding daily activities.
Perform routine or semi-routine work under direct supervision. Requires very few decisions, affecting only the individual.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is routinely required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
VISION REQUIREMENTS:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
