Veterinary Technician: 1 year (Required)
High volume, small animal practice looking for enthusiastic, hard working individuals to fill available part time/full time positions.
Must be available to work Saturdays.
Spanish speaking a plus, but not required. Pay rate based on experience.
Duties would include, but are not limited to:
- Self motivated. Fast learner. Efficient and Organized..
- Excellent communication skills , positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to multitask, in a high volume, high energy atmosphere.
- Assist with phone calls, to schedule appointments using practice management software (Avimark). And to answer client questions.
- Keeping of proper medical records.
- (With training) Understanding and handling of pharmaceutical products offered.
- Ability to collect and set up lab samples.
- Ability to problem solve minor issues.
- Maintain stock and cleanliness of exam rooms, treatment areas and lab.
Skills:
Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform various veterinary procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian
- Administer medications and treatments to animals as directed by the veterinarian
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist/monitor during surgical procedures
- Conduct laboratory tests and analyze samples
- Radiology- understands safety procedures and proper use of PPE while taking x-rays
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Veterinary knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of veterinary medicine, procedures, and terminology.
- Animal handling: Ability to safely handle and restrain various types of animals of different sizes and temperaments. .
- Laboratory skills: Proficient in collecting samples, and conducting laboratory tests and analyzing samples.
- Animal physiology: Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases.
- Animal catheterization: Skilled in performing catheterization procedures on animals.
- Aseptic technique: Ability to maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
