The city of Kent is a vibrant, beautiful multiethnic community located 30 minutes south of Seattle. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family! Kent is home to more than 13,000 students at 6 middle and 4 high schools. This community has a rich and long tradition of Young Life, with more than 5 decades of ministry. There are currently three staff people in the area helping to lead two Young Life (YL for high school) clubs and 2 WyldLife (YL for middle schoolers) clubs, as well as a developing ministry at a third high school and an active Capernaum ministry. We are looking for an Area Director to lead our staff and volunteers with fresh vision and to mobilize our community to reach every kind of kid in every school in our community.
Responsibilities:
Primary focus is spiritual and emotional health of self and those they lead.
Lead area vision and strategy for Contact Work, Club, Campaigners, and Camp.
Participate in dynamic direct ministry with students.
Gradually develop and empower staff team for leadership in the area.
Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders.
Partner with the Committee Chair in leading and developing the area committee.
Lead the strategic planning and financial development of the area alongside the committee.
Develop, care for, and communicate with financial supporters for the area.
Build connections with local church and business leadership.
Participate in staff training and summer camp assignments.
Raise personal financial support.
Qualifications:
A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Proven spiritual leadership, vision casting, and team building.
Gifted in working with adolescents and adults.
A drive to engage in multiethnic ministry.
Self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to be trained and led.
Professional, responsible, and strong follow through.
Able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
Successful fundraising experience.
Young Life leadership experience required.
College degree preferred, not required
