To directly oversee the operations of several departments which provide mission services and facilitate effective functioning of the entire operations segment of Young Life.

This job is fully remote, based in Portugal.

Expat Staff Essential Duties

• Proactively learn the culture (language, customs, practices, etc.) and develop a growing cultural intelligence in order to be an effective minister and adjust to expatriate living in your host country.
• Proactively pursue an effective visa strategy that allows you to remain in good standing with host country.
• Proactively pursue a tax strategy that allows the staff person to remain in good standing with the host country.
• Operate under a global supervisory structure and within expat specific working conditions such as regular international travel, working across time zones to effectively communicate with other staff, participating in international events and interacting with diverse kids, leaders, adults and staff.
• Due to the rigors of expatriate living and cross-cultural ministry, it is your responsibility is to proactively pursue support structures (mentorship, counselling, training, tutoring, etc.) in order to be healthy and effective in ministry.
• Acknowledge and uphold the conditions within your Letter of Assignment. Please refer to your Letter of Assignment or request an example from the Expatriate Services office.
• Participate in cross-cultural orientation as a required training event.
• Understand and utilize Healix/HX Global and practice good international security protocols.
• Keep mission unit(s) associated with your assignment in good financial health.
• Depending on your role, be prepared to work with the International Operations department to keep the local Young Life organization in good legal standing.
