POSITION SUMMARY

The Media Specialist is responsible for overseeing the creation, production, and organization of all aspects of camp media. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to taking photo and video of all programs during the entirety of each session, editing and uploading photos to our parent portal every evening, and creating a weekly recap video of each overnight camp and horse overnight camp sessions. This position takes hundreds of photos and several hours of video footage each day. Experience with DSLR photography and videography are required; candidates should prepare a digital portfolio to be presented during their interview. Schedule: Sunday - Friday. Must be at least 18 years of age.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

• Take photos and video of each camper participating in program (average 200 daily shots)
• Create and produce weekly camp videos
• Maintain and add content to the YMCA Camp Manitou Lin social media accounts
• Facilitate and order group and all camp photos
• Maintain media equipment
• Ensure all media and communication follows Y branding guidelines
• Be a positive role model for all campers and fellow staff
• Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations
• Help support camp programs when needed
• Assume the role and duties of a counselor as determined by the summer camp Director, as needed

Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Camp Manitou-Lin and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

COMPENSATION

• This position is not required to live on site, but housing is available.
• Meals are provided Sunday - Friday. Staff are allowed to remain on site during the weekends throughout their seasonal employment if they choose. Scheduled time off will be granted each day.
• $65.00 - $70.00 per day; Seasonal; Non -Exempt

Requirements

KNOW HOW

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous experiences in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
• Ability to create, edit, and produce video relating to camp programs within branding specifications
• Have working understanding of media editing software
• Organizational skills relating to media, social media, photo, and video production
• Working knowledge of assisting and/or teaching an activity.
• Ability to teach and role model the Core Values of the YMCA and use of 21st century life skills
• Must be able to relate to one’s peer group and work as a member of a team
• Ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
• Ability to perform a variety of tasks indoors and outdoors in different climate

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Cardio Pulmonary Recitation (CPR) required
• First Aid certification required
• Blood borne pathogens training required upon hire
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
