Summary of Position

Manages and directs Delivery Services, to include the Mail Center, Central Receiving, and Campus Mover; supports incoming and outgoing mail and campus parcels as well as campus moving, which includes the delivery support task, both clerical, supervisory, and delivery staff responsibilities; coordinates logistics.

Position Information

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises employees in the Delivery Services area; assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of assigned tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves/disapproves requests for paid leaves; interviews candidates for employment and recommends hiring; evaluates employee work performance; receives and responds to grievances; provides assistance with the development of unit work procedures and policies.

Manages and directs Delivery Services which includes such items as mail delivery, receiving, and mover.
Develops and implements a budget and has signature authority for all Delivery Services areas.

Oversees and monitors monthly charge backs, postage permits, and meter replenishment.

Works closely with Procurement Services & the Controller’s Office regarding system accounting issues impacting accuracy & timeliness of accounting transactions.

Communicates departmental information to campus community including regulations, deadlines, training, etc.

Schedules and coordinates staffing logistics between Postal Services, Central Receiving, and Campus Mover; deals with problem resolution.

Possesses accountability of all goods received by the university in transit to departments on campus via Delivery Services.

Contracts administrator for all lease and/or sales agreements and contracts (i.e. postal equipment, meter contracts).

Assists as backup for Postal Services, Central Receiving, and Campus Mover as needed for additional projects or coverage; processes mail and packages; receipt and delivery of packages and freight for campus moves or event setups.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Assists with training new hires.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Equipment Operated:
Computer and all other standard office equipment; inbound tracking system; tow motor; truck; hydraulic jack; pallet jack; hand cart; Meter and mail equipment.

Work Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday.

Supervision Exercised:
Supervision is exercised over staff and student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of: University policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management; policy administration; process improvement.

Skill in: use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.

Ability to: deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; travel to and gain access to work site; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:
At least a bachelor’s degree; three or more years of experience supervising and managing staff; experience in financial/budget process.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business management; experience in delivery services.
