The Peer Mentor who works with the Homeless Engagement and Resolution Team (HEART) works out of the Sutter-Yuba Behavioral Health office in Yuba City, CA. This position provides meaningful engagement of homeless individuals in the region and assists them with accessing needed resources and supports, will build rapport with homeless individuals, and assist in reducing barriers to services. Develop an understanding of various resources in the community, provide transportation, assist with paperwork, and complete basic office tasks and data entry. The Peer Mentor will work with a team of an Intervention Counselor, and Outreach Worker. The team partners with Law Enforcement and Code Enforcement offices during outreach activities.
Because this is a peer mentor position, lived experience as a mental health consumer, or lived experience with homelessness is strongly preferred. Applicants must be over the age of 18 to be considered for this position, have a good driving record and a valid CA driver license. Hours will be variable, and candidate should be a high school graduate OR have experience that would demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge. You must pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment background check including a livescan fingerprinting.
