Accounting Manager

Position Summary: The Accounting Manager will manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.  

 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable teams and their functions; serves as the liaison for the remote Finance team. Works closely with both teams to foster and maintain a strong relationship with external and internal customers
  • Monitors revenue and expenses; analyzes financial data and prepares special reports
  • Assists in the monthly and annual financial close process
  • Assists in the annual audit process
  • Manages vendor contracts and implements electronic form documentation
  • Manages Agency credit card platform/process
  • Maintains financial security by ensuring internal controls are appropriate and being followed across the organization
  • Supports the organization’s Community and Afterschool programs and their specific platforms. Develops and maintains strong communicative relationships with program leads. Looks for continuous opportunities of improvement

  • Manages and implements Finance training across the organization
  • Ensures the accurate and timely processing of ACH and positive pay transactions
  • Oversees 1099 reporting and filing
  • Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives; provides guidance by interpreting and communicating accounting protocol
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Assists in the development, maintenance, and refinement of key performance indicators
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions; provides direction to new and existing staff as needed
  • Supports Director of Finance in refining procedures to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year; monitors and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience/Training


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience


Skills/Abilities


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proven leadership and organizational abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with accounting software; experience with software system implementation a plus
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of service quality and the organization’s mission
  • Succinct and clear verbal and written communication skills

  • This job operates in a professional office environment, school setting and working with the public, all Youth Guidance employees must be fully vaccinated or approved for a medical or religious May work occasional weekends and local travel as needed.
