YR Media (formerly Youth Radio) is seeking a seasoned Grant Writer. The Grant Writer is a skilled and persuasive written communicator with experience writing proposals for fundraising organizations. Familiarity with and a passion for media/journalism, youth development, arts and STEAM education fundraising would be a preferred asset for successful performance in this role.

Position Summary
The Grant Writer is responsible for developing and writing proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations and will persuasively communicate YR Media’s mission and programs to potential funders. The Grant Writer will partner with our Director for Institutional Giving for the purpose of identifying and bidding on grant opportunities that are mission aligned. The Grant Writer will lead the charge of prospect research and cultivation, writing letters of intent and grant proposals.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Develops deep understanding of YR Media’s program content to ensure integrity, alignment and quality of proposal writing
- Coordinates, researches, writes, edits and generates timely submissions of grant proposals, applications to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders in conjunction with the Director for Institutional Giving
- Prioritizes projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meets deadlines and manages supplemental material required for proposals.
- Research new funding and grant opportunities that may be appropriate for YR and present findings to the Director of Institutional Giving.
- Assembles grant requests, including letters, proposals, and presentations
- Provides writing support for major donor and individual contribution letters and acknowledgements.

In addition to these responsibilities, performs other activities as assigned and required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Professional experience developing and writing proposals.
- Proven track record of securing institutional gifts at the $50,000 level and above. Experience writing grants for national and government opportunities strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the fields of media, youth development, and/or STEAM education is preferred.
- Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals.
- Deadline-driven with strong editing skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors. Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies. Familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
- Knowledge of fundraising information sources and the philanthropic landscape nationally.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
