YWCA Columbus is seeking an experienced Crisis Specialist to join our Women’s Residency program team. Crisis Specialists provide support and de-escalation to residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

What you will do:
· Engage in crisis de-escalation to reduce situations resulting in violence, harm, and/or police and emergency medical involvement
· Participate in established process to identify clients in need of prevention interventions; develop new processes to identify clients and help refine existing process
· Conduct wellness checks to build relationships and trust with clients; develop ongoing rapport
· Assist with initial linkage to the most appropriate resources and services to respond to emergent need and communicate back to the existing case management/care team
· Provide coping strategies to clients and debriefing with them after stressors or incidents;
· Communicate and coordinate with case management in shelter or housing program; utilize processes in place for communication within each program and help refine as needed
Schedule:
2nd Shift Tuesday-Saturday, on-call as needed.
What we’re looking for:
Top candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in social work or a related field, or a combination of education and experience. A LSW/PC and/or LISW/PC is preferred. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience as well as 5 years previous experience working with homeless population, mental health, and/or chemical dependency is preferred. Commitment to the ‘housing first’ and dedication to excellent customer service, strong oral and written communications skills, attention to detail, ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations and ability to conduct difficult conversations. Valid Ohio Driver’s license and access to reliable insured transportation required.
