Position: Flow Motion Instructor (Pilates and/or Aqua Fitness)
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Aquatics Director
Position Summary: A Flow Motion Instructor instructs land-based pilates and/or a low-intensity, alignment-based water fitness program to breast cancer survivors. This program requires staying up-to-date on the limitations and strengths caused by breast cancer and its treatments. Familiarity with lymphedema, scarring, decreased range of motion and other major factors attributed to radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in health or related field; and 3 years of related work experience required;
· Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization;
· Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
· Ability to work with, and train/teach, diverse populations and, specifically, survivors of breast cancer;
· Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality; and
· Current personal training, group exercise, pilates, or water aerobics certification.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
· Operate the Flow Motion Program under the policies and philosophy of the YWCA and funding partners;
· Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down.
· Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises;
· Prepares appropriate props, music and plan for each class.
· Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down.
· Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Director provides instruction, monitors and educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
· Participate in ongoing efforts that promote the health and well-being of survivors of breast cancer within the community; and
· Perform all other job responsibilities as needed for the successful operation of the Flow Motion Program.
Professional Development & Growth:
· Responsible for continued professional growth and development to meet all program and curricula requirements annually.
· Keep abreast of and in compliance with all current local, state and national issues related to the program and the YWCA.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.50 per hour
