YWCA NENY Mental Health Clinician
Function:
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services; the Mental Health Clinician (MHC) will provide assessment and short term treatment to child victims of abuse (primarily sexual) and non-offending family within the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) in Schenectady County as part of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). With the common goal of protection of the child, justice and healing; the MHC will work at the CAC to help children and families heal from the damaging effects of child sexual abuse.

Essential Duties:
- Follows a trauma-informed approach to provide information, support, assurance, and guidance to clients/families in an empowering and calm manner.
- Conducts trauma specific assessments and use standardized assessment measures to inform individualized, evidence-supported treatment for the child.
- Provides information and referrals to community services as needed
- Offers therapeutic support, treatment recommendations and maintain ongoing contact with the child/family.
- Provides other specialized trauma-focused mental health services for child victims and non-offending family members including crisis intervention services and family/caregiver engagement.
- Witness Forensic interviews.
- Develop positive working relationships with the Police Department, Detectives and Child Protective Services.
- Maintains case notes and records of treatment plans and referrals.
- Produces reports and documentation as required.
- Attends trainings and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Masters in Social Work, Master’s Degree in Counseling or Mental Health related field or license-eligible and working towards licensure; Clinical Licensure Supervision provided.
- Two Years minimum experience in the area of child sexual abuse and trauma informed therapy.
- Have training/certification in trauma-based treatment model such as Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) or willing to become certified.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and database use.
- Excellent oral and written skills; proven ability to case manage children and families.
- Must have own vehicle available for work-related travel.
