What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Counselor position at YWCA York?
SUMMARY
Responsible for the supervision of the Shelter facility when on duty. The work involves providing support and options counseling to residents and clients in a trauma informed manner. Must be dedicated to the mission of YWCA York. This position will typically be scheduled 3 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday, to include some holidays. Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
DUTIES
When on duty: Responsible for security of building, contents of building, and the well being of building occupants. Must hold scheduled fire evacuation drill monthly and orient new residents to evacuation procedures.
Conduct intakes and answer hot line as needed.
Work to provide support services, non directive counseling, information, and referrals. Case reviews are held at every shift change.
Participate in house meetings, staff meetings, and direct service meetings.
Work with the Shelter Director and/or Residential Coordinator in menu planning, food shopping when necessary and keeping a running inventory of food and household supplies.
Required to lift or move materials of average weight.
Keep shelter and all bedrooms clean and ready for clients
Keep up with laundry and making of bundles, care bags, and laundry bags
Keep kitchen and bathroom stocked
Keep store rooms neat and clean and donations put away
Maintain confidential materials associated with the agencys clients and files.
Other duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalency certificate. Must complete PCAR/PCCD/PCADV advocate training within 90 days of employment.
