Job Description:
General Description
Provides leadership, educational direction and mentoring to assure adherence to early childhood education/care best practices. Researches and develops the curriculum and daily routines for infant/toddler/children care programming.
Reporting Relationship
The Childcare Team Lead reports to the Director of Children’s Services.
Supervises
The Childcare Team Lead supervises the Childcare Activity Aides.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Develops and implements infant/toddler and preschool program and oversee all day-to-day childcare activities including: Designing developmentally appropriate curriculum guided by trauma-informed care practices.
- Designs and set-ups the classroom learning environment using developmentally appropriate materials and maintaining daily standard sanitation practices.
- works with Director of Children’s Services to develops early childhood program procedures and documentation.
- Interviews, trains, directs, and supervises Childcare Activity Aides in St. Joseph and Elkhart County; works with Director of Children’s Services to evaluate Childcare Activity Aides.
- Assesses programs based on current research and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Maintains children’s intake information in client tracking system and maintains accurate records for each child’s time spent in childcare.
- Ensures parents are informed and involved with their children’s experiences and progress; plans and facilitates parent involvement in programs for children.
- Assures compliance with all relevant governmental regulations related to safety. Aware of and responsive to non-regulated best practices within the early childhood profession.
- Cultivates a positive, strength-based teamwork environment that allows for growth and development of staff members.
- Must have record maintenance experience and have basic computer skills to complete lesson plans, email communications, etc.
- Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.
- Maintains CPR and First Aid certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
