ZACHRY is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Superintendent 1 for work at BASF Plant in Port Arthur, TX.  NO PER DIEM IS OFFERED.

Position Roles:                                                                                                                                                                               

Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Site Manager. Assigned to oversee and direct the execution of all maintenance work, improvement projects, and production support activities in compliance to all established policies, procedures, and systems of Zachry Construction Corporation and the Owner's company. Interfaces with Gatekeeper, Maint-Coordinator, Operations and Craft Foreman to improve efficiencies and reliability of equipment.

Knowledge and expertise in planning, estimating, understanding schedule updates/adherences, Field Change Orders, and adherence to cost tracking and cost control, use of computer, building and maintaining spreadsheets.

 

Major Contributing Responsibilities:

Provides input and support the initiatives and goals set forth through the Site Business Plan established by the Site Manager and approved by Zachry Construction Corporation Account manager.

 

Participates in the Monthly Mass Safety Meetings, Supervisor Meetings.

 

Evaluate staff performance levels and implements action plans to improve the development and efficiency of the assigned staff.

Technical input for schedule creation, quality of maintenance activities, improvement project, schedule attainment, safety, and labor cost control through daily attention to unit costs and adjustments in crew size.

 

 

Work Process Performance and Assessment:

  • Provide support and guidance to Craft Foreman to ensure safe, efficient, and quality task execution.
  • Oversees the "E" Priority work processes i.e. resources, schedule impacts, materials needed, overtime requirements.
  • Estimating
  • Interfaces with Planning group regarding backlog, resourcing (manpower caps), and utilization.
  • Attends Weekly and Two-Week Schedule planning meetings.
  • Reviews staffing requirements, expectations, skill set requirements.
  • Assist in manpower resourcing during schedule interruptions.
  • Assist in resource issues during scope of work change - approves final plans.
  • Interfaces with Gatekeeper, Expert and Technical in support of field execution groups.
  • Assures all documentation and data is gathered as required for equipment histories, work plan enhancements, man hour estimates, failure analysis and improvement activities to improve equipment, systems reliability.
  • Assist in providing outside services.
  • Audits, on a weekly basis, the quality of the Work Packages. Deficiencies will be forwarded to Site Manager. Participates in weekly STAR Assessments
  • Assist Operations with Performance testing and equipment start-ups.

Training:

  • Ensure each position has a Position Skills and Criteria developed and the document is available.
  • Insure employee development plans are in place to support Site Successor Plan and training is available.
  • Insure employees have all required training, knowledge, and certifications (if applicable) for their assignments.
  • Identify training needs, i.e. equipment ,tools, computer, work procedures, etc... for the site.

Safe Work Practices:

  • Ensures that each member of the workforce adheres to Site's Safe Work Practices.
  • Ensures each Craft Foreman starts the day by taking a Safety Moment with their crew and focusing their employees on the task ahead.

 

Communications/ Feedback:

  •  Coaches Craft Foreman on productivity, quality of work, and safe work practices performed by respective crews.
  • Audits Schedule Attainment and document delay factors and make necessary recommendation to Craft foreman.
  • Audits required documentation i.e. equipment history, PM Compliance, failure analysis data, etc and make recommendations to Craft Foreman.
  • Ensures Craft Foreman is keeping customers apprised of work status.
  • Addresses any concerns form Craft Foreman and individual employees.
  • Provides feedback and updates on Value Added ideas generated by employees.
  • Provides answers for employee concerns.
  • Provides timely feedback to Site Manager on performance issues, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats.
  • Supports Site Manager Directives and Company policies.
  • Reviews Employee Development Plans and provides feedback.

Assures that all OSHA, BASF, and Zachry Construction Corporation safety policies and procedures are in place, employees trained, and barriers identified/ documented and or eliminated. Attends all crew safety meetings on a scheduled basis. Monitors and enforces the PPE requirements for the site and each area of the site.

Responsible for oversight and distribution of disciplinary and or training opportunities for all Safety/Quality/Personnel related issues at the site for employees under their direction.

Assume the role and responsibilities of the Site Manager in his absence.

 

Primary Customers:                                                                                                                                                                               

Site Manager - Daily interaction to provide information and receive assignments, instructions, direction, and feedback on performance.

 

Gatekeeper and Maintenance Specialist- Frequent interaction to provide information and receive feedback.

Craft Foreman - Daily interaction to provide instructions, review schedule and performance to plan, and solicits feedback on issues, employee performance and opportunities or obstacles to achieving acceptable levels of efficiency.

Site employees - Daily interaction to receive information and provide support and leadership at all levels of the Zachry Construction Corporation organization.


 Zachry Maintenance Services - Assures that all work is completed in a safe, quality, and efficient and effective manner. Conducts all business with integrity and a high level of ethics. Leads by example. Treats everyone with respect and dignity.

 

Major Opportunities:

Developing and maintaining an accident and injury free site is the most difficult and important task of this position.
