Network Security Engineer - Firewall

Installs, configures, tests, operates, maintains, and manages networks and their firewalls, including hardware (e.g., switches, routers, cables, proxy servers, and protective distributor systems) and software that permit the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information to support the security of information and information systems. Abilities: Ability to operate network equipment including routers, switches, servers, transmission media, and related hardware. Ability to operate common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup). Ability to execute OS command line (e.g., ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat). Ability to operate the organization's LAN/WAN pathways. Ability to monitor measures or indicators of system performance and availability. Ability to monitor traffic flows across the network. Ability to analyze the information collected by network tools (e.g. logs, reports, etc inside various SIEM tools). Responsibilities: Develop and implement network backup and recovery procedures for Panorama, PA3200 PA3000 PA200 series Diagnose network connectivity problem. Implement new system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards. Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., pan-os, IOS, firmware). Integrate new systems into existing network architecture. Monitor network capacity and performance. Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure that information is safeguarded against outside parties. Provide feedback on network requirements, including network architecture and infrastructure. Test and maintain network infrastructure including software and hardware devices. Collaborate with Product, Operations and Infrastructure organizations to understand requirements and develop specifications around project initiatives. Audit of all existing security standards and controls: to include engineering designs, implementation guidelines, and field bulletins for equipment and technology upgrades on the networks. Operational problem escalations and vendor concerns/issues around security related matters. Assist in Security Operations NIST Framework Assessments – providing team guidance and feedback on solutions. Experience and Education Requirements: Associate's (certifications addressing information systems security, advanced systems management may substitute for education) 0-3 years of experience in information security Network/Infrastructure Security BG- (BGP Hijacking, DDOS, ACLs, Flowspec etc.) Skill in analyzing network traffic capacity and performance characteristics. Skill in configuring and utilizing network protection components (e.g., Firewalls, VPNs, network intrusion detection systems). Vendor SW & HW Environments (Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto/Fortinet/Arbor…etc) Security Technologies and Protocols (WAF/FIM/FW/IDS IPS/Radius…etc) Vulnerability and Penetration Testing Environments (Tenable/Centrifuge/Safebreach….etc) Standards Documentation Creation (Design/Implementation/Certification/Test Plans….etc) Experience with SIEMs Certifications: PCCET PCNSA (Required) PCNSE (Preferred) Base pay range: $75,750 - $105,000 commensurate with experience.
