Senior Software Engineer

Location: On-site at Charlottesville, VA or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL and Hybrid. Approximately 75% on work conducted on-site and 25% remote.

Job Summary: 
 

The Senior Software Engineer will provide software design and development support to DoD clients. The successful applicant will work in a team setting with systems analysts, product owners, system testers, and other software engineers in an Agile software development lifecycle while mentoring Junior Software Engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Perform software development, database design, system testing, DevSecOps.
• Assist in the evaluation of technologies, determine technical architectures, interface with high level stakeholders, lead systems development teams. 
• Mentor and guide Junior Software Engineers/Developers.
• Technical lead for a Scrum team.
• Work in full stack environment involving multiple programming languages.
• Work multiple technologies such as server environments, Cloud technologies, Containerization, and Continuous integration.
• Meet with stakeholders in person and virtually to gather, refine, and explain functional and technical requirements.
• Gather stakeholder feedback and communicate system architecture details for use in design documentation and development.
• Lead software teams by reviewing and prioritizing documented requirements.
• Track development progress, including issues and milestones, and communicate status with project leads using tools in the Atlasian suite (JIRA, Confluence).
• Manage and help establish with code versioning control system for source code control using GIT.
• Support and/or lead technical architecture development tasks.
• Assist with Graphical UI/UX development.
• Coordinate team meetings and demos when needed.
• Meet with senior level clients and explain the progress and results of work.

 Requirements:

• Must be a US citizen.
• BA/BS plus 10 or more years of systems/database programming experience.
• In lieu of degree, 18 years of applicable experience.
• Active TS/SCI Clearance.  Will be required to pass a CI Polygraph within 90 days of employment.
• Obtain CompTIA Security certification or CISSP. 
• Demonstrated experience with Linux and Windows Server OS, React, NodeJS, CSS, .NET or Java, PostgreSQL, 
• Demonstrated experience with, Gitlab, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and Commercial Cloud Services
• Ability to manage project time & resources.
• Ability to delegate implementation plans to subordinate members of project team.
• Ability to identify problems, communicate them to supervisor, and propose solutions.
• Ability to research technical issues.
• Successful background and drug screening check.

Preferred Requirements:

• MS Computer Science.
• Experience with cross-domain tools. 
• Experience working on ML/AI projects.
• AWS Certifications
• Basic knowledge of bioinformatics
• Experience with one or more: ElasticSearch, Teraform, Helm Charts.
• Experience with working on multi-team/multi-contractor projects.
• Ability to write reports to present to management.
