Machinist Operator

Job Description:

Perform machining work within close tolerances including the drilling, facing, cutting, turning, threading, boring, and milling on iron, steel, alloy, non-ferrous and non-metallic equipment and parts. Set ups and operates all types of machine tools and performs all types of layout, fitting and assembly work.

Essential Functions:

• Position will be required to use all types of machine tools such as lathes, shaper, planer, horizontal and vertical boring mills, milling machine
• Knowledge of machinist’s hand tools and measuring instrument such a wrenches, hammers, scraper, files, scribes, protractor, micrometer, gauges, levels, and squares required
• Various portable power tools will be used such as drills, grinders.
• Candidate should be familiar with blueprints, sketches, job cards, mill equipment and parts, forgings, castings, bar stock, plates, rods of iron, steel, brass, alloy, and other metals, micarta, babbitt, cutting oils and lubricants.

• Must be able to practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
• Must be able to cooperate with and coordinate duties with other members of the crew. Should be able to perform work with minimum Supervision. Must be safety conscious at all times.
• High School diploma or G.E.D. Must have a minimum of 4 years of prior experience in Machinist work or has successfully completed a Machinist curriculum from a vocational program.

Working Conditions:

• Since this is a heavy industrial environment there will be exposure to foundry operations. The employee will be exposed from time to time to the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust and fumes.
• When in the shop production area, the employee will be required to wear a uniform as well as the determined PPE which may include but is not limited to steel toe shoes, safety glasses with foam lining, face mask, gloves, a bump cap, or hearing protection.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $36.00 per hour
