Senior Lab Technician

Zepto Life Technology, Inc. (“Zepto”) is devoted to improving people’s quality of life through the development of point-of-care molecular diagnostics that benefit healthcare providers, patients, and their families by quickly diagnosing diseases.  Zepto has improved the accuracy of molecular diagnostics through using giant magnetic resistance as the sensing technology instead of fluorescence.  

Summary

Zepto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be pivotal in the development and testing of our cutting-edge diagnostic platforms. Your responsibilities will include preparing and validating reagents, conducting advanced molecular experiments, and performing comprehensive data analysis. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and ensuring meticulous documentation of all laboratory procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in laboratory techniques, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. 

Essential Duties

• Draft, execute, and document detailed test plans, including qPCR and other advanced molecular experiments.
• Conduct rigorous testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic assay platforms.
• Prepare and validate PCR and other test reagents according to established protocols.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot technical issues to optimize laboratory procedures.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all experimental procedures, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
• Analyze experimental data, compile insights, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of scientific presentations.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support ongoing research and development initiatives.
• Mentor and guide junior lab technicians, providing expertise and support as needed.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support ongoing research and development projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in PCR/qPCR.
• Minimum of 2 years of industry-related experience in biotechnology, life sciences, or medical device development.
• Experience in in vitro diagnostics (IVD) product development.
• Proven proficiency in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including senior and junior scientists, engineers, chemists, and biologists.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proven leadership abilities, with experience mentoring and guiding junior lab technicians.
• Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
• Proficiency in laboratory analytical techniques, equipment, and technology operation.
• Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities within a technical environment.

Job Type

• Full-time, Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm (half-hour unpaid lunch), onsite.

• Some traveling may be required.

Work Environment

• This position is based in a research and development biosafety level 2 laboratory, where strict adherence to corporate policies and regulations is required. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• The noise level in the work environment is typical for a laboratory setting.
• There is minimal exposure to Blood-borne Pathogens.
• Exposure to Infectious Diseases is mitigated through the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• The work environment may involve handling cleaning and sanitizing products, as well as various laboratory solutions.
