Our Network office is located at 401 W. 218th St., New York, NY 10034. Our Network team follows a hybrid work schedule with at least two days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) in office, depending on what each role’s scope of work permits. This role will likely require additional in-person time to cover events and meet with team members across Zeta sites.

To achieve our vision, we are searching for a Director of Communications with a Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, and/or a related field, who is fueled by a passion for storytelling and equitable education.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional verbal and written communicator, strategist, and project manager who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role reports to the Director of Strategic Impact and works closely with Zeta’s CEO.
Responsibilities:
– Take full ownership to ensure Zeta has a strong, consistent, and powerful brand across all external communications and to amplify Zeta’s voice across earned and owned media
– Devise and execute the content and PR strategy to raise Zeta’s profile across all channels
– Manage Zeta’s PR firm to excellent outcomes, ensuring frequent and positive local/city coverage of Zeta events along with feature pieces in national outlets; expand Zeta’s reach through new outlets and channels (e.g., podcasts)
– Manage the CEO’s communications calendar, including ghost-writing, editing, and project managing emails, blogs, and presentations
– Drive special communications projects with significant cross-functional collaboration (e.g., family communications projects with school teams and the family outreach team)
– Manage Zeta’s website and partner with the Director of Marketing to ensure a world-class website experience at all times
– Leverage an entrepreneurial mindset and data-driven approach to continuously test, learn, and iterate Zeta’s communications to achieve improved results over time
– Wear multiple hats as a part of a lean startup-up team, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects and tasks as needed

We are hiring for an immediate opening. The salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000. New hires can expect to be brought into the organization at a salary at or near the start of the range, depending on relevant experience and internal equity. Compensation is based on our salary scales. This position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary, merit-based performance bonus.
