Job Title: Lead CNC Tech Reports to: CNC Tech Supervisor

Responsibilities relating to CNC tech:

• Monitor tool life on CNC controller and change tools at prescribed frequency.
• Verify all tool changes
• Monitor CMM, SPC & Gauge Table results regularly throughout the shift. When necessary, take appropriate action based on results to maintain a capable process.
• Review previous shift log sheets and CMM reports to determine state of operation at the start of shift.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.
• CNC and Broaches repair (Tooling and hydraulic pressured fixtures)
• Shift data required in machining database i.e. tool changes, shift reports, etc.
• Ensure all machines’ safety systems are functional
• Track all scrap produced in designated area
• Enforce escalation policy for scrap and downtime
• Open communication with the entire team to better the process

• Participate in training of all members of the team
• Fixture detail repairs
• Machine start up/shutdowns
• Clearing general faults
• Crash investigation

Responsibilities Above Standard CNC Technician:

• All techinicain responsibilities listed above
• Lead, guide, & direct team to complete jobs in a timely manner per established policy and procedure.
• Work with production supervisor to ensure teams focus match production priorities.
• Work closely with Manager to meet established KPI’s and Goals for the department.
• Assist in improvements with Manager and Engineering for product throughput, first-run yields, ergonomics, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Assist team with Advanced diagnostics and support.
• Training and skill development of team.
• Will liaise with outside vendors as needed.
• Generate action items that pertain to equipment uptime improvement.

Requirements and qualifications:

• Must be Proficient in all Machining Area’s of the plants with thorough knowledge of all CNC machines, Processes, & Products.
• Strong Problem-Solving Skills.
• Self-Motivated.
• Strong Leadership Skills.
• Should have top level Performance and maintain excellent attendance
• Understanding of CNC Programming.
• Good communication and detail oriented.
• Multi-tasking.
• Manual dexterity.
• Understanding of tool usage and care.
• Able to use multiple means of measurement.
• Ability to perform calculations with whole numbers quickly and accurately without a calculator.
• Able to read blueprint/ part print.
• Technical aptitude and strong trouble shooting ability.
• Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft office programs.
• Advanced Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance.
• Perform Advanced PDM Checks.

• Changeovers; Setups
• Table alignment checks
• Understand the operation and function of the CMM machine
• Basic G code programming troubleshooting and modification
• Support maintenance in troubleshooting
• Understanding of the use of gauges; self measurement
• Machining Process Understanding
• Basic Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance

Work Conditions:

• Most work conducted in a production environment with moderate to high noise levels.
• Manufacturing area requires hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toed shoes.
• Overtime required most Saturdays and occasional Sundays

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to stoop and bend 30% of the time to reach equipment requiring maintenance
• The person in this position needs to be able to stand 70% of the time
• Walks from one piece of equipment to another within 100,000 square foot space.
• Constantly operates hand tools and frequent use of power tools
• Occasionally moves parts weighing up to 30 pounds.
