We are looking for a new colleague to join our Material & Distribution Department at our plant in Newton, NC!
Position Summary: Develop plant master schedule based on customer requirements. Order and expedite purchased materials as needed to support production and ship schedules. Supervise physical inventories and assume responsibility for inventory levels. Back up support for Materials Manager.
Position Duties:
- Coordinates SAP activities for appropriate planning of stock levels to meet customer demand and to also to meet predetermined safety stock of finished goods.
- Works with vendor base and communicates direct material needs.
- Works with production to provide a shop plan to meet customer needs.
- Develop production schedule on a weekly basis based on customer requirements, material availability, equipment, and work hour capacity.
- Distribute production plan to appropriate personnel. Review proposed schedule with materials group and production manager in production meetings.
- Release material against blanket purchase orders (domestic and foreign suppliers) to support production schedule as well as pass-thru business.
- Communicate schedule updates with suppliers on a weekly basis.
- Expedite as required to support requirements.
- Closely monitor the daily material requirements for production. Ensure that materials are available for all shifts. Immediately report shortages to both the logistics and production managers.
- Track supplier delivery performance as specified in the supplier requirements manual and corresponding procedures. Submit delivery performance results to the purchasing manager monthly.
- Assist Materials manager and materials planner with cycle count system as required.
- Track inventory trends, including inventory turns. Distribute reports and/or graphs at month end.
- Coordinate annual physical inventory with logistics and production managers, and sub-contract suppliers.
- Maintain the following reports: Production schedules (weekly) and Inventory Turns report and/or graphs (monthly).
- Participate in APQP process as assigned by the logistics manager.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure smooth, timely launch of programs.
- Actively participate in Safety Activities and Investigations.
- Ability to train other associates in assigned work areas.
- May be required to work modified schedule to support customer requirements (ie: overtime, vacation coverage, off-shifts, holidays, etc.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing setting
- Proven leadership ability, strong people skills (motivation, communication, problem resolution).
- Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS office).
- Must be available and flexible (including weekends) to meet customer requirements.
- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience in Scheduling/Materials management/Inventory control role of an automotive parts/manufacturing environment
- SAP knowledge/experience.
