POSITION: Rework Technician
DESCRIPTION
Direct labor employee responsible for rework and repair of suspect product as well as verification of product reworked by others. Strict accountability of rework product quality expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work cross-functionally with operations and quality to ensure customer demands are met
- Accurately document information into DRTS, FARS, DART programs
- Timely communicate problem issues to appropriate personnel to include team leaders, managers, quality, etc.
- Verify rework product quality completed by others and document rework that does not meet IPC workmanship standards.
- Re-inspect work once complete to ensure successful operation has been performed on product
- Understand how to document scrap material in MUDA
- Maintain daily records of rework/touch up WIP, rework/touch up that is received from each shift/area, completed rework/touch up that is returned to the floor
- Collect rework/touch up product from the floor at the beginning and end of every shift.
- Return completed rework/touch up to the floor at the end of every shift.
- Basic understanding of dry pack requirements
- Knowledgeable of manufacturing instructions (where to find component numbers, instructions for reworking product, etc.)
- Understanding of material handling requirements for both lead and lead-free products as well as handling for solder paste
- Perform daily maintenance on soldering equipment, 5S on work area and document completion of tasks.
- Perform monthly maintenance on the fume extraction according to work orders and document completion.
- Must become certified and perform:
- Operations on both lead and lead-free products
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with and support the health, safety, and environmental programs, policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- AS degree in Electronics or related field with 0-2 years relevant experience; or HS diploma and AS degree in Electronics being pursued and 1-3 years relevant experience in component-level electronics troubleshooting and/or inspection; or HS diploma and 1-3 years relevant experience in component-level electronics troubleshooting and/or inspection; or Military equivalent
- Must be able to perform reading and math functions at the 8th grade level.
- Aptitude indicative of performing multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent working knowledge of Soldering equipment, Microscope, and other test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully perform in a team environment through use of good interpersonal skills
- Must successfully complete soldering / workmanship standards classes and soldering audit process
- Must successfully complete IPC knowledge test with passing score
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Proven self-management skills; must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ANALYSIS
- Operation of computer, keyboard, mouse.
- While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; to reach with hands and arms; and to talk and hear.
- Employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, walk, bend, crouch or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
