ZGF is seeking a Director of Marketing to join our team in our New York City office. We are seeking a driven individual who is looking for an opportunity to grow their professional marketing career in a collaborative and team-oriented environment. The person assuming this role will be a key member of the close-knit marketing team.
As a Director of Marketing, you will….
- Work closely with Partners and Principals, both locally and across the firm, in the development and maintenance of client relationships, monitoring markets and emerging trends, and establishing/maintaining strategic partnerships to support office and firm goals.
- Participate in a wide range of marketing activities, including but not limited to deep research and intelligence gathering to identify client decision-makers and define client needs; strategy development for pursuit of new work; developing statements of qualifications, proposals, and interview presentations; etc.
- Manage and mentor the marketing and graphic design staff
- Participate in strategic planning with Partners, Principals, and other Directors of Marketing; communicate on a regular and frequent basis with other Directors of Marketing on strategy development, project pursuits, and coordination with closer-doers
- Identify, pursue, and develop ZGF relationships with prospective clients, consultants, and contractors
- Perform research and guide the screening of project opportunities to ensure that clients and projects being pursued are consistent with the firm’s values, vision, and goals; manage communications and facilitate timely go/no-go decision-making
- Direct the project-specific selling efforts within the office, including preparation of proposals and orchestration of interviews, including both written and graphic composition—take a lead role in some, a coordinating role in others, and an oversight quality-control role in others as appropriate
- Oversee written quality and content of ZGF’s external communications, as well as graphic packages
- Ensure marketing information systems and materials in respective office are up-to-date; contribute to firmwide collateral, content, and other media
- Represent ZGF to the local community; attend community and industry events and conferences
- Promote opportunities for staff participation in community and industry activities, public speaking, and professional conferences; support with messaging and content
- Formulate the annual marketing plan and office marketing budget with the office Managing Partner or Managing Principal; monitor both plan and budget for local office, providing periodic and annual reports
- Have knowledge of firmwide marketing and business development activities, participate in communications and flow of information among all offices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field
- Minimum of seven years of professional services marketing experience, preferably in the A/E/C industry, and of development and hands-on implementation of marketing / communications strategies
- At least three years of management experience with a proven track-record of growing and mentoring staff
- NYC specific A/E/C marketing experience.
- Creative with strong leadership, strategic, problem-solving, and management skills; discrete and highly professional
- Positive personality that is supportive; able to establish rapport, build relationships—internally and externally; very comfortable in both inside and outside roles; familiarity with local community
- Experience in, and appreciation of, the architectural design community and the design profession; appreciation of the special character of ZGF’s design values
- Well versed in providing leadership and support to the marketing of all disciplines and services offered by the firm, including architecture, planning / urban design, interior design, and environmental graphic design
- Hands-on willingness to contribute wherever, whenever, and however possible to overall efforts of the marketing team
- Creative and entrepreneurial attitude; self-directed and motivated to succeed; a strong work ethic
- A collaborative and team-oriented disposition; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with both peers and senior members of the firm
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks; work efficiently under multiple deadlines
- Good graphic sensibilities and judgment
- Relentless attention to detail and organization
- Technological savvy; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and database programs, such as Deltek Vision and Axomic OpenAsset
- Demonstrated ability to communicate quantitative and qualitative results and other complex information to diverse audiences in an understandable and compelling manner
- An appetite to consistently “raise the bar”
- A desire to actively contribute to office culture and events
- A sense of humor and grace under pressure
- Able to travel to other ZGF offices and/or client project locations as needed
