ZGF is seeking a Director of Marketing to lead our Seattle marketing team. As a Director of Marketing, you will…. 

  • Work closely with Partners and Principals, both locally and across the firm, to develop and cultivate client relationships, monitor key markets and emerging trends, to support office and firm goals.  
  • Lead a wide range of marketing activities, including but not limited to: detailed market research and intelligence gathering to identify client decision-makers and define client needs; strategy development for pursuit of new work; developing statements of qualifications, proposals, and interview presentations; etc. 
  • Facilitate marketing planning efforts within individual offices. Collaborate with Partners, Principals, and other Directors of Marketing in these efforts.
  • Manage and mentor marketing and graphic design staff by coaching, mentoring, and training staff across the office in marketing and business development efforts. 
  • In concert with Partners, Principals, the firmwide Director of Communications, and other Marketing Directors, participate in weekly strategic planning, sharing project pursuits, and coordination with closer-doers.  
  • Identify, pursue, and develop ZGF relationships with prospective clients, consultants, and contractors. 
  • Acquire working knowledge of the firm’s entire portfolio, both historical and current.
  • Perform research and guide the screening of project opportunities with Partners, to ensure that clients and projects being pursued are consistent with the firm’s values, vision, and goals; manage communications and facilitate timely go/no-go decision-making and gather insights to inform marketing strategies and business development efforts.
  • Direct the project-specific selling efforts within the office, including preparation of proposals that are tailored to meet the specific needs of each client and orchestration of interviews, including both written and graphic composition; take a lead role in some, a coordinating role in others, and an oversight quality control role in others; also support efforts in other offices as may be required. 
  • Lead Client Relationship Management efforts including updating business development information, client updates, and other marketing information in Vision, and supporting Partners in meeting CRM goals. 
  • Be a visible and active ZGF representative at industry events and conferences, and mentor staff to do the same.  
  • In concert with the firmwide Director of Communications and local communications team, develop marketing plans for key staff to participate in community and industry activities, public speaking, and professional conferences.  
  • Formulate the annual marketing plan and office marketing budget with the office Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer; monitor both plan and budget for local office, providing periodic and annual updates. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of professional services marketing experience, preferably in the A/E/C industry with experience in PNW markets, and AEC industry knowledge including an understanding of our market, competitive landscape, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies. 
  • At least three years of management experience with a proven track-record of growing and mentoring staff. Must have the ability to motivate and manage teams, set clear goals and expectations, and provide guidance and direction to team members.
  • Creative thinker with strong leadership, strategic, problem-solving, and management skills; discrete and highly professional.
  • Positive personality that is supportive; able to establish rapport, build relationships—internally and externally; very comfortable in both inside and outside roles; familiarity with local community. 
  • Experience in, and appreciation of, the architectural design community and the design profession; appreciation of ZGF’s design values. 
  • Relentless attention to detail and organization. 
  • Technological savvy; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and database programs, such as Deltek Vision and Axomic OpenAsset. 
  • Able to travel to other ZGF offices and/or client project locations as needed. 

Base Salary Range

$135,000 - $180,000 annually depending on experience
