The District Manager is responsible for ensuring that Zinc Café & Market stores within their defined region consistently deliver an outstanding guest experience in line with Zinc standards through exceptional service, ambience and superior food & beverages. They must achieve the defined budget objectives for labor, food and operational costs, as well as meet sanitation and food safety standards. The teams who report to the District Manager should be fully staffed and all members should be properly trained, developed and thriving in a dynamic and positive work environment.
Responsibilities:
Leadership

  • Demonstrate drive with a sense of urgency and perseverance

Operations

  • Drive the implementation of best in-class business practices that promote operational excellence across the Company
  • Oversee the continuous improvement of operational processes and performance. Make recommendations for improvements as appropriate
  • Provide exceptional service and consistent food & beverages according to Zinc specifications to every guest
  • Oversee and enforce proper use of all operating systems, procedures, tools & checklists
  • Reinforce company standards in all areas including food, beverage, service, safety/sanitation, staff uniforms, facility cleanliness
  • Follow all Key Performance Indicators to identify & address areas of opportunity
  • Ensure organizational compliance with all related legislations and policies
  • Monitor and maintain guest services in accordance with the Company mission statement and goals for guest experience

Food & Beverage

  • Ensure purchasing is done using the company’s approved vendor list and product specifications
  • Utilize quality assurance tools to ensure recipes are rigorously followed and food/beverages are fresh, appealing and safe
  • Work with the Kitchen Managers to train and coach staff on accurate recipes and cooking techniques
  • Review reporting and analytics (comps, product mix) for opportunities and collaborate with Director of Development, VP and Ownership to act on these opportunities

Sales

  • Ensure production of food and beverages meets company standards
  • Ensure staff is trained to deliver exceptional service, food and beverages
  • Ensure service staff is knowledgeable, friendly and sales oriented to maximize guest checks
  • Evaluate ticket times, address opportunities with management to maximize guest turnover
  • Maintain accurate pars and production to maximize sales Profits
  • Assist in defining budgets. Achieve defined budgets in all cost areas
  • Assess productivity opportunities with staff and address them with managers to maximize team efficiency
  • Ensure order guides and pars are used for all purchasing
  • Verify production levels to ensure waste is minimized
  • Hold management accountable using Key Performance Indicators & analysis, ensure that they are utilizing these tools effectively

Human Resources

  • Champion the importance of a positive, fun and educational work environment
  • Develop professional and nurturing relationships with all staff
  • Show genuine interest and investment in staff growth and development
  • Motivate through continued praise and coaching
  • Embody and inspire Zinc culture
  • Oversee hiring process, monitor and manage staff training to ensure thoroughness and effectiveness
  • Ensure each store is compliant with all Zinc policies & procedures
  • Provide management with objective evaluations on an-annual basis Facilities
  • Ensure that every store is cleaned, merchandised, maintained and presented to the guest according to company standards
  • Perform monthly facility audits and ensure cleaning checklists / audits are used (daily, weekly, monthly) by all management
  • Ensure every store meets all federal, state and local standards
  • Verify that all equipment is in working order and staff is properly trained to use it
  • Monitor use of the R&M log at each store and confirm that all aspects of the facility are in working order

Safety & Sanitation

  • Understand and manage sanitation standards
  • Hold staff accountable for workplace safety
  • Recognize coaching opportunities and correct unsafe behavior immediately
  • Maintain highest grading of evaluation from health department
  • Perform monthly safety & sanitation audits and ensure audits are used weekly by management

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience in a similar supervisory position
  • Strong passion for culinary excellence and service
  • Proven ability to develop & inspire a team
  • Experience in restaurant analytics and achieving results through managing KPIs
  • Knowledge of systems, technologies and processes that contribute to great execution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Point of Sale Systems & restaurant applications (wait lists, take
  • out/delivery)
  • Fluent in English, fluency in Spanish is preferred
  • Food handler’s certification
  • Work Authorization: United States Citizen or Undocumented Noncitizen authorized to work in the United States


Work Context

  • Traveling to different locations weekly
  • Working with hot foods and beverages
  • Walking and standing for long periods of time
  • Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, stoves, and other hot equipment
  • The employee may frequently be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch for duration of shift (eight hours or longer)
