About the Role

The Field Thermal Engineer is responsible for interfacing with ZT Customers on all Thermal-related topics and requirements to support the development of Hyperscale Servers.  The role also includes leading the ZT Thermal Engineering Team in the development of key thermal components & systems from concept to engineering release of new products. In this role, the individual will be able to troubleshoot thermal and/or airflow issues in new and existing product lines using empirical data and commercial CFD software.  In addition, they will also engage with industry vendors to discuss existing and next generation Thermal technologies/solutions.  Ultimately, the Field Thermal Engineer is a subject matter expert who will provide guidance in Thermals to Customers, internal Engineering, Management, and Business Teams.

What You Will Do

• Meet with customers on a regular basis to discuss, conceptualize and implement solutions to their thermal challenges
• Work with the internal engineering team to optimize the thermal performance of servers using simulated and empirical data
• Troubleshoot thermal and/or airflow issues in new and existing product lines
• Optimize airflow speed, volume, and flow paths to meet customer and component requirements
• Support the thermal aspects of custom engineering products and/or proof of concepts
• Analyze thermal test reports and ensure the results meet the product requirements
• Contribute thermal content to product System Architecture Specifications
• Support procurement team to identify and manage 3rd party thermal vendors

What You Bring

• BS or MS in Thermal-Mechanical Engineering (Ph.D. is a bonus)
• 5 years of experience in a similar role or relative internship experience
• Good communication skills and experience working directly with customers
• Experience loading, testing, and validating thermal solutions for rack-mount servers
• Basic knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics
• Commercial CFD Software skills (FloTherm preferred)
• 3D CAD Software skills (SolidWorks or ProE)
• LabVIEW skills preferred
• Proactive, team-oriented, and results-driven mindset
