Job Description:
Join our progressive farm in California’s Central Valley as an Irrigation Supervisor/Specialist. You will design and manage irrigation systems for diverse crops, including sod, potatoes, almonds, grapes, and sweet corn. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment, directing installation crews, and ensuring efficient irrigation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and distribute irrigation system plans for each crop.
- Coordinate and oversee pump installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Manage installation crews for mainline pipe, lateral pipe, and pump installations.
- Organize and manage irrigation equipment and parts inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
- Lead winter repairs and maintenance for all irrigation supplies.
- Plan efficient use of the labor force to maintain quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.
- Lay out work schedules in advance and manage daily operations to ensure maximum productivity while adherence to budget.
- Construct and implement departmental operational improvements and technology initiatives.
- Maintain a safe work environment, conduct in-field safety training, and enforce safety rules.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have 1 to 3 years of experience working directly with irrigation equipment on farms and/or direct experience in the retail Ag irrigation industry.
- Solid experience with various irrigation systems, including solid set, micro-sprinklers and drip.
- Familiar with the principles of irrigation equipment maintenance, repair processes, and managing product inventory.
- Must possess effective communication skills across all levels of personnel and departments.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and timely in work habits.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with farm equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Determination, assertiveness, and adaptability with a passion for agriculture.
- Bilingual in Spanish required.
